Description

This video is the RETAIL PANEL at RENTV's Inland Empire State of the CRE Market Conference on May 9th, 2023 in Ontario, CA. The panelists were: John Read Senior Vice President National Retail Partners - West CBRE | Capital Markets Todd Huber Director of Development Paragon Commercial Group Brad Umansky President Progressive Real Estate Partners Greg Giacopuzzi Vice President, Leasing & Development NewMark Merrill Companies Jennifer McLain Hiramoto Executive Director of Economic Development City of Ontario The important hot topics discussed were tenant and leasing activity in the IE, the types of tenants taking retail space, and the strength in demand for quality Inland Empire retail space. Although the panelists noted some softening as a result of the economy, interest rates, and the recent banking issues, the IE is very much in demand. Another exciting topic was a review of the projects and properties being marketed by the City of Ontario, Paragon and NewMark Merrill. But the story was not so great regarding investment sales and capital markets as, not surprisingly, velocity has slowed since interest rates have spiked and now with SVB and First Republic going under, though certain types of retail properties and situations are still closing. Thank you panelists for a great conversation.
